Trail Maintenance - Block & Tackle

On Saturday, Sep 11, 2004, some USFS trail crew and trail riders from Crested Butte (and elsewhere) turned out to do some much-needed trail maintenance on Block & Tackle Trail. The lower end of B&T is steep and was being seriously eroded. Maintenance consisted of installing a retaining wall and building up the trail on one hill, filling in deep ruts on the lower section, and rerouting the creek crossing at the bottom. We split up into several crews and attacked the problems. The pictures below only show work in one area, but everyone who came pitched in with great enthusiasm. The work was finished by 1:30. The Crested Butte Trail Riders Association provided lunch, and everyone who attended got a raffle prize.

Thanks to everyone who showed up and worked so enthusiastically.
